It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea and is spread over a central peninsula and its surroundings. A popular tourist destination, the city is linked to the many picturesque Adriatic islands in the area. Having read about Split and its popularity due to the ever popular TV epic, Game of Thrones. I expected this area of Croatia to be really busy with visitors, particularly at this time of year. To my pleasant surprise, this was not the case and Split lived up to all expectations.
