Glorious Grenada - Island drive and Beach

Docked in St Georges about 7.21, weather is fine and about 30 degrees Celsius. Grenada is a Caribbean country comprising a main island, also called Grenada, and smaller surrounding islands. Dubbed the “Spice Isle,” the hilly main island is home to numerous nutmeg plantations. It’s also the site of the capital, St. George’s, whose colourful homes, Georgian buildings and early-18th-century Fort George overlook narrow Carenage Harbour.

We had arranged a scenic drive from coastal St Georges, climbing up and into the lush rain forest that covers central Grenada. This turned out to be an extremely steep journey, that had you on the edge of your seats, as the driver contended with torturous narrow winding roads and other road users.

Grenada is such a lush green island with the central rain forest dotted with spectacular waterfalls. We chose to visit Annandale falls as it was the easiest hike to get to.

Flick through the slideshow to see the local guys diving into the pool at the base of the falls. No mean feat as there are many hidden dangers below the water line.

For a donation Divers will acknowledge you by name and shout out your name as they dive.

well worth the money.

Although quiet busy i would recommend visiting the falls, just for its beauty and the spectacle of these young men diving.
